How to link your page into a menu
Introduction
You just created a page for your Kibbles Website and you want to link it into a menu
Overview
There are two ways to do this:
- Edit the page and use the "menu settings"
- Edit the menu and add a link
Procedure
Method #1: edit the page and use the "menu settings".
- Ensure you are logged in.
- Go to your page. If you can't find it, click on "Content management -> Content -> List", find your page title in the list, and click on it.
- Click the "Edit" button. You are now looking at your page in the edit window.
- Find the "Menu settings" link, and click on it to expand it.
- For "Menu link title", type in the words you want to appear in the menu
- For "Parent item" - select "<Primary links>" to have it appear in the top menu, or "<Secondary links>" to have it appear in the side menu. Note if you do not see a side menu, that is because it has no items in it.
- Click "SAVE" and your page will now be linked into the appropriate menu.
Method #2: edit the menu and add a link.
- Ensure you are logged in.
- Find the page you want to link in. Copy the URL from the web address bar up top.
- Go to the "Site building -> Menus -> List menus" item.
- Find either the primary (top) or secondary (side) links menu. Click on the one you want to place the page into.
- Click "Add item"
- For "Path", paste the URL that you copied from a previous step.
- "Menu link title" - type in the words you want to appear in the menu
- For "Parent Item" - it should have selected the menu you chose so you do not need to change this.
- Click "SAVE"
- On the menu page, you can drag and drop the links to re-order them. You must click save after re-ordering them.
